Which headers to buy?

hi trying to pick out a pair of heeders for a 95 firebird lt1. I have herd Rob's arizona speed and marine heeders and the hooker super comps. would like to know of any others that you guys have on and if you like the ones I mentioned. also any input on the jbl or slp. I am going to be using a 306 or 305 cam and maybe a set of afr or lt4 ported heeds. would like to know about the sound quality the loud mouths are way to loud for my complex thinking of the flow master 40 s

thanks pat

Pacesetter long tubes. From what I have seen personally and heard they are pretty good. Fit was excellent on my friends 97Z and they sounded mean too. Plus I think they are a little cheaper than the other brands mentioned, coated I think you can get them for around 430 or so.

Buy the Pace Setter LT's. I would challenge you to find one owner on this board who isnt 100% pleased with the headers, well, minus the bitch of twisting, pulling, pushing, hitting, bending, and cramming those things into place with no room on either side. They are inexpensive (when compared to other LT's) and are a great header. look no further than pace setters. I think uncoated from VRE are a little under 300 bucks. coated are four something.

Ditto. The quality for the price alone sets them apart. No way I'd waste money on anything else on a daily driver. I might consider it if it were an actuall 'race' car.

I've got the AS&M's and have Zero complaints! I've had them in and out several times and they still look great. They sound as good as they look too. Just my .02 about them. There are lots of good headers out there just depends on what you are exactly looking for. Good luck

Re: which heeders to by

I second hotrod. Kooks if you have the money and you plan on getting crazy on the mods in the future. I can not believe the fit and finish of these things. I really can't believe my spark plug access also. They also slipped right in from under the car, but maybe thats cause of my BMR k-member. good clearence on their Y-pipe also. I had a set of 1 3/4" TPIS headers previous to the kooks, which I believe are very similar if not the same as the AS&M's. Was very happy with these headers also. Good fit and finish and I had them on the car probably 9 years with no issues. All depends on how much you want to spend.

Re: which heeders to by

Are you after a "shorty", 1-5/8" primary header like the JBA's, an intermediate length, 1-3/4" header like the AS&M's or the SLP's, or a long tube header like the Hookers? There are several others available in each of those categories. What type you want will have a significant affect on how much torque/power you make, and where in the RPM band you make it. Or, from your post, are you mainly interested in how it sounds rather than how it performs?

The Pacesetter headers are a good bang for the buck header.

My vote is for Kook's. Awesome fit. Great set of headers.
