Headers aint worth a SH*t

i put slp headers on my car and i gained only about .5mph in the quater mile i thought they would give at least 3mph and 2-3 tenths off the e.t., i only made my time better by adding the stall and the drag radials, i dunno how some people 's car runs better with them when i didnt gain anything

I sure hope you werent expecting alot from shortie headers, especially from slp. You would have felt and gained alot more from long tubes. Its pretty much proven that everybody that does shorties eventually goes to long tubes.

I have SLP shortie headers on my car. At first I could feel the difference but it wasn't anything major. Then I took the cats out and I was in business!!!! Bye the way, SLP shorties are the best bolt on shorties out there. However, long tubes are always better!

I disagree. I think TPIS shorties are much better. I think the quality of the TPIS is far greater. Also, TPIS aftermarket is only LS1, LT1, and TBI. THey have put a lot of R&D in their headers, which is why I think they're the best. Plus I took about .3 of my 1/4 and about 4 MPH. That's awesome for a shorty.

One of my very good friends had TPIS headers and they started to rust after 2 years. Then he switched to SLPs and he is very happy with them. They at least come with lifetime warranty!

IMO AS&M's are the best headers as far as quality. SLP's are fine though, they are 1 3/4 and lots of ppl run them.

On my car, i picked up 3 tenths with the headers, all these times ar based on 2.3 60' times which are the best i can get on my clutch. But the MPH went from 102 to 104..............

TPIS's headers come coated from Jet-Hot, so if they started to rust it's not their fault. He should have called TPIS and I'm sure they would have taken care of him. Or at least called Jet-Hot. They also have a warranty on their coatings.

I would pick gears over headers any day of the week. I thought it would be a good seat of the *** mod, but headers aren't all that great.

Before I would go telling everyone about how headers don't do squat, I would see if I am getting any false knock from them, maybe check my AFR with them, make sure there are no leaks and put weather in the equation when comparing times.

Headers by themselves aren't all that great... they're more of a preliminary mod for other stuff. IE: heads/cam. It's all about increasing the flow. Put a cam on without headers, and you'll be disappointed in the cam. etc.

My SLP headers with off road pipe rocked I gained almost 2mph in the 1/8.

I would think of the single cat SLPs as midlengths rather than shorties, just my opinion.

It is only one part of the power package... Cat Back, Intake, Programming...

Then Head/Cam. You won't notice much right away. You've got a cut out so I figured you tried that. I've got a 1995 with a single cat, when I install the Off Road Pipe and remove the Cat for the track... Big Difference!

when i put my slp's on i gained about .3 in the 1/4 and at least 3 mph. my 60ft went down by about ..1 or .2 after the headers i did gers, and didnt see any gain at all exept for maybe .5 mph, other than that it just FEELS faster, which is ok but whats the point in just feeling faster if it really isnt? but overall i was very happy with my slp's.

I think that Jet Hot warranties headers that are brand new(not customer shipped to them, but from the manufacturer) for life against rust through, and parts shipped to them from you are 3 year warranies

If your not going to get longtubes the only other header even worth thinking about are Macs. They are more of a mid length, flow awesome, and have the best plug access I've seen on a header for the LT1. All my friends who have shorties run Macs, and all have seen great gains, my friend who had SLP's just switched them to Hooker LT's. I say Macs or longtubes are the only way to go.
