Which Headers???

I am looking into putting headers on my 95 lt1 yet not to familiar with what brands are most efficient and reliable on theses cars. I have heard that the long tube type of header can cause problems with the starter or plug wires... any imput will help. thanks guys

Get long tubes!!!!! Everyone will agree. If you have the money get the FLP LT's, but they are a pretty penny, $1200. Hooker LT's are good, but you will need to get a custom y-pipe made for them. There is also the Jet-Hot LT's, but I haven't heard much about them. But definitly get LT's if you have the money and don't have to worry about emissions.

Definately long tubes. I've heard great things about jethot. Good price, good performance gains, good plug access (compared to stock ), good ground clearance (compared to Hooker, and other long tubes). However, if you plan on lowering your car, it may give you clearance issues. If this is the case MAC and SLP make good headers. But I myself plan on getting long tubes (jethot). Do a search, I'm sure you can find ALL KINDS of arguments over headers, and learn some valuable info at the same time. The site also has group buys on jethot headers all the time so you could save some money as well.

Long tubes are great, but very expensive for a 95. I bought the MAC mid length headers and they work amazing!
Headers was the best mod i ever did to the car!

don't forget the as&m's, i gained .4 in the 1/4 with them, and they are a midlength if you ever decide to lower your car

After installing headers myself, IMO its not worth the hassle unless you go LT.
I have no problems with burning plug wires or starter problems.
In fact the only downside I can see with LT headers is the ground clearance issues.

I agree. If you dont have emissions testing go LTs. Especially if you have future plans that involve cam/heads/intake etc. I've heard good and bad things about FLPs and nothing really bad about Hooker/Jet-Hot LTs except for the slip in #1 primary which I havent had a single problem with leaking. The best value for LTs is Jet-Hot.

As for shorties, SLP and MACs get a lot of praise as well as AS&M midlengths.

Actually, FLP headers come with the hookups for emissions and you can get Jet Hot LTs with them now also. There is usually a group purchase in the works for Jet Hot longtubes. Wouldn't hurt to take a look...

i will agree that the LT's will definately flow better and give you more power. i have the edelbrock ceramic coated shorty headers on my 95 and everything about them is great. they fit without any mods or cuts of anything. they are centered well on both sides to leave equal space for clearence. i have the taylor 8 mm wires in the stock location with no problems. they even have the carb eo stamped right on top of the driver side next to the air intake on the header. the metal was thick at all the flanges, the welds are smoothed, the ceramic coating was flawless, and the gaskets sealed great (not 1 leak). there are of course no clearence issues even if you want to lower the car. plus the cost was fair. summit charged me 475 ish with the coating, shipping, california tax (the bast@rds arent even in ca.) and a y pipe. long tubes are better for power but weigh your options with what you really plan on doing with your car.
