Arrow Header Question

I just recently got a set of Edlebrock Headers and an Edlebrock Y-Pipe with dual cats. Both cats are gutted out. Edlebrock sells two different styles of TES headers: The 94-95 and the 95-97. Since the y-pipe came with dual cats, I assume he got the 95-97's. They were installed on a 95 Car, the 02 Bungs after the cats on the y pipe were welded shut. These should work fine with my 94 car correct?

Another question: What is the cheapest way to keep my headers cool? As they are free edlebrock's I am not going to spend money for a Jet-Hot coating. Will header wrap work fine? Which header wraps would you recomend?

The final question is: I plan on installing a high flow cat after the y pipe with the two gutted cats due to the fact that I have to pass emissions, and headers to ORY and a loudmouth would be too loud. How much would a 3 in. high flow hurt performance on my car with XE 224-230 cam?

Re: Header Question

You will need to run a o2 sims. or have the rear 02 deleted from the PCM in order to avoid setting the SES light, but if you are going for emission compliance, then run the o2 sim. The header coating will give you a better overall gain than the wraps, but if you insist on that, then Summit and Jegs both carry that kind of stuff. As for the high-flow cat, it can go several ways. It might take a couple of ponies, it might not take anything at all, or it might actually add a few. Either way, the gain or loss from a high-flow cat. is minor.

Re: Header Question

Thanks for your help.

I thought OBD-1 only has 2 02 Sensors? Doesnt the OBD-2 have 4?

Re: Header Question

Don't wrap your headers, they can ignite. I know somewhere in Maryland you can get by emissions without a problem. PM me if you are interested. How would you manage to stick 4 cats on the pipe? That would be useless. High flow cats are good I suppose. Sorry if you're only using 2 cats, it just seemed like you are using 4, 2 high flow and 2 gutted. Don't get an SLP loudmouth. Get a quieter cat back system and ditch the cats. OBDII has 2 cats, OBDI has 1 cat. OBDII has 2 front O2 sensors and 2 rear O2 sensors, the OBDI has 2 front sensors.
