header question

Hey,

Quick question pertaining to Jet Hot headers...

First off, has anyone else had issues with the ERG hookup on the headers? Shop that is installing mine says it's not even close, he'd either need a new header or cut that part off and weld something else on. I dont mind that but he says that the coating would flake and end up rusting. Now I personally DONT care if it's surface rust, this isn't a show car it's my daily driver, would it end up rusting right through the header or what? I need some suggestions because I dont feel like having my car down for ages and I'm honestly not really sure what jet hot can do for me I left a message but it was after shop hours so I'd imagine they'll call tomorrow. Suggestions? Insight? Thanks.

Re: header question

Another quality issue with Jet Hot.....

I recently went through a pretty major quality issue with them and I experienced some very bad customer service too. I have heard the customer service issue that I experienced is not the norm with them, but I will never buy another product from them, nor recommend them to anyone.

Sorry for the rant....

I would not be concerned about the rusting...

Re: header question

Supposedly there are adapters. There are two different fittings for the AIR hookups between the early and late cars. I used to know the size/thread count but I long ago ordered Jet Hots !emissions.

Do a search. It's been discussed before. I actually ended up using an oil drain plug found at Pep Boys to plug my stock manifolds!

Re: header question

Thanks for the replies. I would do EGR and AIR bypass, but as stated, emissions here sucks, and I worry more about the rolling emissions gestapo than anything... They're not like the state inspection where you can get past them, I'm pretty sure they'd realize if I'm missing key components. Oh well such is life. The rust doesn't really bother me as long as it's surface rust. 99bird, I notice you're in Florida, are you having any rust issues with that humid climate you've got? Thanks again!

EDIT: Thanks for the info on the AIR plugs I did a search and found what I needed. EGR issue is simply, it hits the side of the head, not really even close. My old motor mounts probably have something to do with it. Ah well any input is greatly appreciated

Not as of yet, and I am not using Jet Hot either... I have Hookers now... I sent the Jet Hots back...

While we do have the humidty, we don't have the hard winter climate nor do we have to deal with salted roads...

Re: header question

I'm sure there's a logical explanation for all this, Jet Hot seems like a very stand up company. But I don't have large amounts of time to wait for replacement headers, and the part I'm most concerned about, labor, I doubt they could do anything for me on that anyhow. I'm just gonna go ahead and block the emissions stuff more than likely...

Sorry if I came off as somewhat sour

Re: header question

hey JB...thats why in NJ ya just put on "Emissions Legal" headers and do an !!cat...they will NEVER know as long as they dont give ya a sniffer test. I got stopped in a roadside check they stopped me cause its a loud car and you can smell the exhaust since no cat. they got the mirrors out looked under car and saw there was a "cat" there. They let me go after they questioned me and i laughed the whole ride home since they couldnt prove the car wasnt legal
