Header mod. Can I do this?

I have pacesetter shorties and number 7 cyl spark plug hits primary tube. Can I cut out section of tube and weld in new tube that has bend in it? This way the spark plug will have plenty of room and no more burnt ends. (its so tight just hammering tube will not work). Any help appreciated

Welding is a short term fix. Have you tried shorty plugs and the metal shield like the one on no 5 cylinder? I like to turn the wire 180 degrees behind the plug and zip tie it to the wire.

Can always take a hammer to the header and clearance it the old fashioned way. I had to beat in one of my jet-hot primaries a bit to clear the steering shaft.

Yeah I beat it with a hammer to clear my steering shaft. I did try a shorty plug and I had to take off the little metal nipple end of plug to even have clearance to screw it in. Thats how tight it is. With the short plug and heat shield it was still touching. I need to know if you can mess with primary tube length or if they have to be however long they are now?
