Header Install Update / questions!!!

Jet-Hot LT Headers are in!!!

Took me and a buddy over 16 hours I couldnt get the first and last bolt on the passanger side header to go in at the same time, so i ended up taking the header out, grinding out the holes a little and denting the first primary so i could get the correct angle with the bolt so it wouldnt cross thread... What a PITA... The Hooker Y-pipe also bolted up pretty easily we just need to bend it in a little, but that was no big deal...

However, I cant get the damn Talyor OVC kit to happen for me, so i still haven't started it up yet!!! Terminating the Opti side sucks allot. The boots refuse to slide up the wires for me despite how much silicon spray i put on them, its like trying to jam a 1 inch thick wet noodle through a half inch hole!!!

For those of you with Taylor OVC kit how do you get it on? Did you measure the length and then add the boots up top? or did you try to do it with the wires run and then from under the car? Cause thats what im trying to do now and it aint working so hot!!!

I am getting very frustrated with the Taylor wires, so i was starting to think about screwing them and going with some stock wires from Autozone...

Please let me know how i should put the wires together....

Thanks for any input,

PS ill post some picks of my Getto rigged AIR fittings, quite funny

I used the OVC wires, and with silicone spray the boots went right on I did it with the wires off the car, one by one hooked them up to a plug then ran it along the looms and down to the opti, took that length anda dded about 2 inches, marked it, removed the wire and cut. Finished them all in about 45 Min. One thing though, the nuts that are on the bottom of the looms are small and fall out VERY easily. I used masking tape to hold them in while i worked...

The Taylor custom wires were a PITA when we did my headers. Silicone spray helps and we also warmed up the boots (with a small heater) which really made slipping the wires in easier. Good luck!

Drill them out slightly (doesn't need to be much bigger) and slide them on with silicone spray while it's still warm.

Worked really good for me.

your headed install sounds just like mine....except i think i did end up cross threading the front bolt on the passenger side. I wasnt patient enough to take the header out and dent the primary and drill the hole. I had problems with the wire kit also, but i just forced and finally got it to work. good luck

yea taking the header out and denting it was annoying, but now im a pro at taking off that damn passanger side i must have taken it out like 4 times before i got it right.... take it out grind/ dent it then try it, then i repeated that step like 3 times im still waiting on installing the wires untill this weekend i guess ill try to use some heat to make them work for me... im thinking hair dryer or maybe a small butane pen torch... and this time ill try to do it from up top and route the wires after the boots are on...

grr this project seems to be taking way too long im also worried that ill throw it together turn the key and a bunch of **** wont work, like leaky header gaskets, and misfire on a few plugs, or busted sensors or something equally crappy... but well see only one way to find out!!!
