Header Gasket Problem!!! GGGRRRRR
ok i installed LT's on my 96 trans am and i used felpro 1470 header gasket, and my middle port on my driver side is leaking so i got percys dead soft aluminum and its still leaking , what the hell is going on? will ultra copper gasket silicone work on the felpro or percys? this is pissing me off!!!!
I would pull that header back off. pacesettrers are cheap for a reason....the quality control is somewhat low. I think there is something wrong with the flange. Maybe warpes, might have some slag etc. causing it not to seal. Should be simple to find once its off.
I ran into problems with pacesetters and tried the copper on both side, it never worked, never had luck with percys on anything either......Pepboys had some really thinck regular style (paper type) headers gaskets I tried once...they held up a long time under some warped pacesetters

Damn sorry to hear that the gasket didnt work. Have you put a straight edge to the header yet?
Also I know this sounds ghetto, but what about doubling up gaskets? Or maybe just for the middle ports. (take a good gasket and cut off left and right sides leaving bolt holes for middle ports, and stack this part to another full gasket)
If it were me I would (after verifying warped header)
A. have the header exchanged by pacesetter.
B. have a shop mill it till flat.
What would decide is the shipping/turnaround cost for the header with pacesetter.

yeh dave the gasket didnt work lol, i dont know what to do , i gotta pull the damn header out, and i thought about doubling up the gasket but i have the percys what u got me and a felpro 1407, i am not sure if it will work like that, plus wouldnt that make the header warped even more if i did do that?

You dont want to put off what your going to have to deal with anyways. (it would suck to have to correct for that in the future, or always be fighting a leaking gasket) I hate exhaust leaks, they really screw up performance/fuel economy.
header gasket
you guys might think iam crazy but i use high temp rtv on my headers.
i use just a little around the ports then i bolt up my headers and let them set 24 hours before use . i learned this from racers i know

HEADER PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!!! Yall aint gonna beleive this **** but whenever i did my header install my buddy, who has an air bag truck and did all his suspension work, well i figured he knew what he was doin, well anyways he helped me install my headers and he did the driver side spark plug, well he cross threaded the 2nd spark plug and it barely went it like 1/4 of an inch so all the exhaust was blowing by the spark plug the whole freaking time!!! so i took it out and it wasnt striped out and i put it back in and exhaust leak FIXED !!! WWWOOO HOOOO sorry everyone for yall having to bare with me through this but thanks to everyone !!!
