Header Gasket with High Temp Silcon Gasket Maker ?

Header Gasket with High Temp Silcon Gasket Maker ?

Is it a good idea to use gasket sealnat along with your gasket, I am hearing/ reading mixed feelings ?

i would do it, i had some , and now i regret not doing it because i have a header leak i gotta worry about now

i say just go ahead and do it, its only like a couple dollars just for the added insurance

I used copper RTV with mine... I havent had any problem for a few months now..

In my opinion you shouldn't need that stuff. As long as you use a quality header gasket and your header flange is flat, you shouldn't have any leaks. Plus when it comes time to change the gasket again you have to clean up all the old sealant gunk.

I've had the same pair of Fel-Pro gaskets in my car without any RTV for over 2 years now without any leaks.

I smeared some orange high temp RTV on my gaskets when I put them on. No leaks!
