Header Gasket

I was wondering what is a good header gasket to pickup. I need to pick up one tonight or order it online. I have the Mr.Gasket on there already and have burned 2 of them up. Part of the problem is because of the poor design of the Pacesetter shorties. I was looking for a heavy duty one and if you could tell me where to pick it up or post a link to the online store it would be appreciated.

Re: Header Gasket

What do you mean by "poor design". If you are having a hard time sealing, different gaskets aren't the answer.

Make certain the flanges on the headers are flat as can be. Take them to nearest machine shop and have them checked and ground down if necessary.

Then get some Fel Pro 1406s along with some 1 " ARP 12PT bolts and slap'em on.
Retighten after a couple of heat cycles and you should be good to go.

Doesn't hurt to check bolts every so often. JMHO

I had a similar question the other day, you may find good info there also.

I dunno. There just something about buying a gasket from a guy named Earl that bugs me. Kinda like picking up a set of Leroy's heads, cams and assorted tires.
