Header decision - what do you guys think?

Headers are next on my list, but I need to stay emissions legal. I want the best emissions legal headers out there, so I have had my mind set on the AzS&M 1-3/4" midlengths, ceramic coated inside and out.

Problem is I am getting antsy and really want to do a cam swap...pointless without headers. So I have been thinking about just picking up a set of Mac headers. I really dont like that they're only 1-5/8 primaries tho...

So heres the question...

Do I save up a few buckets of cash and get the AzS&M headers that I really want...

...or...

Do I just get the Mac's now (for like 1/3 the price), then do my cam, and enjoy the extra power while I save for the AzS&M set?

I really want the AzS&M, but I really want a cam like NOW

I am stuck...suggestions??

Thx guys

Save the cash and buy the better headers now and the cam a little later. Your gunna drive yourself nuts if you get the MAC headers and cam now, knowing that you coulda gotten even more if u just waited ... you said you'd probly end up gettin rid of the MAC's and buying the ones you want neways so why waste the money. In the long run youll lose money if you buy the MACs now

I just took off a pair of Edlebrock Shorties and ordered a set of Arizona Speed & Marine Shorties. There's no comparison

I know it's tough, but I'd hold out for the ones you really want. If you get the MAC's, you'll always be wondering about those damn AS&M's

Don't sell yourself short in order to do more at once. Get what's going to make you happy in the long run.

I have had the AS&M's for over 3 years now and love them. I now have an XE224/230 and heads ready to go. No regrets going that way.

only thing i hear bad about AS&M headers is that plugs are nearly impossible with them. Macs have the easiest access to plugs. Personally im thinking Macs and cam. The money i save with the headers can be better spend elsewhere in my opinon. But again thats me.

What about Jet-Hot's emissions legal long tubes? They are alot cheaper then the AS&M's and will flow better then the Mac's.

Don't the Jet Hot ones move the cat locations? If so, then they're not going to be emissions legal. They may have the proper EGR/AIR fittings, but won't pass a visual inspection.

thus, just keep the inspection guy occupied so he doesn't look under the car.

I thought about that, but my car is lowered...and I wanna keep it that way.

Therefore, longtubes are out due to clearance.

By the way, I'm not so worried about moving the location of the cats...they have never once looked under my car for emissions. Its mainly the EGR / AIR / O2 fittings.

Thx again guys... I think AzS&M it is then
