header bolts

I put my pacesetter LT's on about 3 months ago. It came with a paper gasket and I just put some RTV around the outside and torque'd them down with an air gun.

I heard a little wisp under the hood, I checked and one of my bolts were gone. I proceeded to hand check the rest and they were all lose! I could easily turn just about every bolt with my fingers. Went inside, got my wrench, tightended them all down. Anyone know what size bolt I need to get to replace the one I lost?

I also could tell a big difference in the power band once I tightended everything back down!

Having those things on tight makes a big difference, I used the Breslin bolts they lock and dont come out unless you unlock them. I think the bolts a 1" long. Just take what you've got to a hardware store and get some, but I like the Breslins the best.

Re: header bolts

you should replace them with all stage 8 locking header bolts. You won't have to worry about them getting loose again.

Yeah, you could spend the extra dough on the Stage 8s or the Breslins, but you don't have to. Anytime you have bolts that are exposed to extreme heat like that, you need to heat cycle them and check the torque after the cycle. I bought ARP bolts, and they loosened up even after the first time I idled the car with the new headers. After the first couple of cycles of heating and cooling in your garage, you can just check the torque daily for the first week or so. Then after that, just check it whenever it crosses your mind, like every month or so. I'd check your collector bolts too. They are probably loose if you haven't been checking those.
