header bolt removal

O.K last week I posted about a header bolt that won't come out,so I decided to hack saw the head off and try vise grips on what was left sticking out ( about a 1/2 in.),of course this a@#$%^ bolt still will not even budge even a small amount and I don't want to pull the heads so does anyone think heating the stud will free it up? I did not see any anti-seize on any of the bolts I took out.

PB Blast the hell out of it and let it have a good soak. what i've done is use a dremel to cut a deep notch in the head of the bolt, then use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew it.

Ihave used aero kroil several times doesn't move .001 of an inch even with the largest vise grips I have so I don't think a screw driver will do anything, but thanks for the suggestion.

Tap on the bolt a few times. Heat the cyl head with propane. The heat will make it expand, you dont want the bolt to expand.

Heat, lube, and then hit it with an air chisel. Repeat.

I am going to try and double nut the stud sticking out and if that doesn't work I will try heating the head. Thanks

Its not a stock bolt, its the header bolts that came with the jba headers, they have been on there for 9-10 yrs and the jerk mechanic I had install them didn't use any anti-seize and or cross threaded the bolt. I had to hack saw the head off to remove the header.

How long should I heat the head, and I would think any lube would catch on fire?

Did you try rapping it a little to loosen it? If you heat it use a good hot torch and don't go too long.

I am definetly going to rap on it a bit, purchased a propane torch kit .That should do the trick hopefully because I don't want to pull the head and with 113k,or else i'm pulling the whole top end.thanks
