Header ?
Header ?
I live in Cali so there is a pretty strict smog to pass. I will have to get shorty headers for the CARB#, but is it possible to get 94-95 shorties for my 96 and move the driver side cat down a little bit and still pass the visual inspection? Headers for 96-97 seem too restictive on the driver side because of the stock cat location. Has anyone tryed this. I was also told in Cali you can get special registration, have no smog, but you can only put 5K on your car a year. Does anyone know if this is true?
Re: Header ?
You will pass visual inspection as long as the guy checking it isn't some kind of expert...as long as he looks under there and 2 cats are in place, you should be fine. I too live here in Cali, but I have never heard of that special registration. If it turns out to be true, let me know!
Re: Header ?
Yeah, I don't know if that registration is true. I'm thinking of getting a PO Box in Mendecino county so I can run long tubes. I just thought it would be better if I did shorties.
Re: Header ?
they look to restrictive huh? tell that to my stock motored car (with 96-97 dual cat slps, a random tech y pipe, flowmaster catback and a CIA) thats running mid 8s@84 in the 1/8 with 2.oh 60fts.
Re: Header ?
Does your Random Tech Y-pipe have cats? It seems to me that the 94-95 shorties would be better since they don't have to bend all over the place in order to work with the stock driver side cat. That's all I'm saying. I never said that the 96-97s sucked.
