head studs
head bolts
My car is currently in for a head/ cam swap. I got a call asking if I want to buy new head bolts for 230. I'm kinda short on money, is it worth it?

Re: head studs
$230??? i would definitly use ARP head bolts when doing a head swap, but those are only $50. ARP head studs are $115 (more if you get them with 12pt nuts, which youll need if you have large springs), but i wouldnt bother with those unless you are planning on running a lot of boost or very high compression along with a large nitrous shot
at the very least get new stock head bolts. the stock ones are torque-to-yeild bolts and should never be reused. the ARPs are fine to reuse

Re: head studs
$230 for head bolts, WTF? That's a rip dude, unless you misinterpreted something...at any rate, do a search on head studs and see problems people have experienced with them leaking, and make sure your builder installs the correctly!!!!

That is a rip. ARP bolts are ~60-115 depending on where you go. They are tq to yield bolts. Using your old bolts would be like cutting your nose off to spite your face. Pardon the saying. You will not get proper tq or seal if you use them. Tq to yield means they strech.
