Head selection need detailed advice

Alright, Im in the process of searching for heads/cam.. my goal is 400rwhp/400rwtq or better N/a.. I know there are some good flowing heads out there that I can reach these numbers with without having to get a crazy *** cam.. I need some advice from some of you brilliant lt1 guys.. Wether it be buying heads and having them ported or whatever. i want to spank some ls1's and it seems to me like most of the lt1's hp loss comes from the heads and intake manifold. ANY advice is appreciated!

Try a search on heads...you'll find tons of info.

The answer you'll probably come up with is send your stock LT1 castings to a reputable LT1 experienced porter, and you'll get better results from those than an out-of-the-box TFS, AFR, or Edelbrock head.

Probably not the brilliant answer you were looking for...but it's what's up!

Lloyd Elliot makes a good cam/head package for 1600 bucks that will get you way past where you want to go. He also ports the intake manifold if I am not mistaken. I do not know how much that costs, but you might want to do a search on his name and you will find out more. And ya the LS1's at Centerville will not know what hit them either.

Yeah, ive read up on lloyd elliot.. i was wondering if i would be better off buying heads and having him port them or just buying heads that already perform better than his ported lt1 heads..

i just had mine done by lloyd, don't have my car back together,,i got his "le1" package, ported/polished heads, and the cam is like a 226/232 cam , he's been telling me that with a decent tune, lt's and injectors and stuff it should put down about 390-400 rwhp, ill have my car back together this weekend, and possibly dyno it next, i'll post my results.

You can't install the rockers until the heads are on the engine. He does assemble the heads with valves, seals, springs, retainers, and so forth though.

If you give him the money, I'm sure he'd pick up the rocker arms for you. You'll get the cam and the heads fully assembled how you want them.
