My '94 had torque to yield head bolts in it. I found out trying to reuse them when one of the yielded completely. I don't know about the '93's, but I think it is safe to assume all LT-1's use them. The earlier style TTY bolts look like the older small block bolts, but have a captive washer under the head. The later ones have a flange head with a smaller hex (9/16).
The topic of TTY bolts in these engines has been covered before at length.

I recend my comment about Torque-To-Yield. My experience comes from building 1st gen race motors... we use fresh ARPs. Follow the manufacturer spec for the bolts...

Guys I'm about to do head gaskets. Does Autozone sell a good torque wrench, or better yet do they rent them out?

For a little extra info. I am also doing lifters, pushrods, rockers, ported and polished heads upgraded springd and xe224/230 cam. As well as AS&M headers which are coming in about 3 weeks (Long Story). Good Luck with the gaskets. By the way just the gaskets alone from summit are 146.99 plus the must have header bolts are 54.99 (I believe). That is the minimal hardware needed to do the rebuild. (Good Luck again )

Methinks you are mixing up "header," a high performance exhuast manifold with "head" a cylinder head.

BTW- what rockers, springs and what lift cam did you decide on?

Post updated.....

I'm getting the heads and intake from a guy thats buying my old 93 V6. Its a set of port matched ported and polished heads and intake. I'm not sure on the spring info yet. I have been told they are able to take 530-540 lift. Lapped Valves. Comp Cams 1.6 Pro Magnums 3/8 studs, Crane Pro-Series One-Piece Pushrods, XE224/230 Cam, AS&M Headers to top it off.

The only thing that I am worried about is that I have to wait 3 weeks for the headers. I have to run stock manifolds. Thats really gonna be bad. My car will probably run like total shiat. Otherwise, I am happy.... I can't wait

Take it from an AZ employee, DON"T USE ANY TORQUE WRENCHES FROM AZ, DISCOUNT !!!! Especially the ones on the "Loan-a-tool" program. So many people use those things and (probably) drop them and don't leave 10-ft.lbs on them when they return them....its just a bunch of factors that should turn u away from using anykind of those Torque wrenches. Even the ones we sell are crap! Do it right the first time and do it good, go to Sears and get ur self a nice $100 Craftsman Torque wrench and u'll be set! Don't waste ur time or $$$ on "Thrifty" TWs!!!!
