head gasket question

This may sound like a dumb question, but can you reuse a head after you clamp the heads down, even if the engine has never been run?

When checking my piston ring to groove clearance, I never paid any attention to the oil rings and when I went looking for more arp moly lube, I found some "oil ring support rails" that i forgot to install I bolted the heads on last night and was hoping I could salvage the gaskets

you should be able to re use these gaskets since you have not fired the motor and they havent been on long. Once heat gets to them it's all over for the composite type gaskets

I agree! If you just installed and torqued the heads you should be good to go!

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.

I can't believe I missed somethin like this, it's the first time I've ever seen a piston require a spacer for the oil ring assembly, but I shoulda noticed the huge *** gap in the oil rings
