Re: head gasket

The iron headed LT1 of the b-body has a thinner head gasket.

Re: head gasket

The b-body LT1(iron heads) used a .029 right from the factory so one that thickness should be as easy as calling a GM parts source and telling them you have a b-body.

Re: head gasket

Do aluminum head applications require a different spec gasket than what oem spec'd for their iron headed models? Or, are they identical, other than thickness?

I have been using the Impala head gaskets in my LT1 for 6 years and over
60,000 miles without any problems.

That you were able to see, or are you referring to something you might be able to sense/feel?

Re: head gasket

Hey arnie, not sure what you are asking, but I have not had any problems with the headgaskets like coolant leaks or a blown headgasket. I haven't had the heads off so its kinda hard to see what is going on there. I do change my coolant (Dexcool) regularly and I am not making that much power. I think if I were planning to make big power or use NOx I might think twice about using these gaskets.

Just a thought as to the (if any) chemical reaction of gasket with the aluminum surface.
