Head Condition? Replace?

Hey guys,

We recently took the heads off my car due to misfiring problems. (Did every test possible before resorting to this option). I see that in some of the misfiring pistons, there is what looks like oil stains around/inside the walls of the cooling ports from those pistons. The others are really clean. Could these be combustion leaks? Cracked head, block? Was is the right way to make sure?

We did this because anytime the car went into WOT or in extended period of acceleration, tempature would begin to increase and approach redline, it would then proceed to cool down in idle. Not to mention loss of power!! (sometimes it was down, sometime it was up).

We thought that i maybe had partially blown head gaskets leaking into the combustion chamber, but the gaskets have no sign of being blown.

By the way, these are hand ported LT1 castings, I would like to know my options. Maybe the new Trick Flow castings would be a good investment.

Thanks
