643/374 castings are the older castings and thicker. They allow a few areas in the ports to be opened up larger when porting.
The 97 model (and some 96's from what I have been told) heads are 561 castings. These flow better un ported but when porting they will need to be left a lil smaller in a few areas since they are thinner.
