Hawker Genesis G16EP lightweight battery good for my application?
Well, car is in the shop and the battery has died. Thinking of upgrading to a lighter battery to take ~ 30lbs off of the front end anyway. So what about this Hawker battery.....is it basically as good as an Optima? My car sometimes sits for two weeks at a time but is typically driven once a week or so. Can that battery handle that or will it by dying all the time? I noticed I have an old link in my favorites to www.gotbatteries.com .....is that a good place to get it or is there a better price/service?
Thanks

I went with a Odyssey dry cell battery. I have had no issues with it, no problems with voltage when tuning via LT1_Edit and a great strong crank every time, even with my fans running with the engine off.
I ended getting a Odyssey 925MJT, 925 cranking amps, weighs 25 lbs, which saved 15 lbs over my Optima red top. It is also much smaller.
I paid $130 shipped from http://www.odysseybatteries.com/
I decided against the dinky 13 lb battery due to the fact I run a lot of compression, like to listen to my radio with the car off in the lanes and have my cooling fans running while waiting between runs.
Something to consider.

I'm not really up on what's required as far as battery power goes. I do run very high compression with my 10.5:1 stockers and ~7 PSI of boost on top of that, but my stereo is stock with a 10 disc changer. I don't run the battery with the engine off like you do so would the Hawker be sufficient for my needs (remember, a weekend driver..not daily) ?

I did the battery in the back thing also. Had problems from day 1 with grounding.
I ended up just putting the battery back up front. Saved a bunch of weight from running 20' of 0 guage cable and a little from the battery box.
When you put the battery in the box, I am sure we are all putting in master on/off switch and a certified battery box.

Cantonracer, was that battery a direct fit/connnection in the oem location with the oem cables, etc.? I like the idea of a decent battery that drops 15lbs, but I don't want to hack up the oem wiring to fit odd ball battery connections.

Yes, I can take a picture tonight if you would like? I made my own cables, but the stock cables would work fine. I would have used the stock cables except last year I put the battery in the rear and elimated the front cables.

I put added a battery page to my cheap yahoo website.

It will give you an idea of what it could look like.
