Having Issues....

Yesterday while driving home my car starting acting very wierd...It was loading up while driving and doesnt seem to have much power at all..If I stop at at light the car will not idle by itself..Also, it is smoking out the back-(White smoke I believe and there was a brown "milky" substance on the ground also..)
There are no abnormal noises that I can hear...Oil pressure was a little lower than usual but within specs.

Here is what I did today to start the troubleshooting fun..

1)Drained oil- Looked like normal and found no bearing material
2)Pulled raidiator cap and it wasn't low..
3)Pulled valve covers and found nothing abnormal...
4)Pulled spark plugs-few of them were carboned up a little but nothing major

I plan on putting a Fuel Pressure gauge on it to rule that out also...
It doest seem like an Opti issue since I usually see most of those issues involve a high rpm miss....

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks

Cody

"brown Milky stuff"....sounds alot like a head gasket, your getting coolant in the oil.....Just a guess, Sorry Bro...

Re: Having Issues....

That was my first assumption but I want to make sure before I tear her apart...Is there a way to isolate this problem so I can narrow it down...(ie compression check?, pressure guage on the radiator?...)
Is white smoke usually signs of water in the oil?

Thanks

Re: Having Issues....

I thought white smoke would be oil burning off, like a blown headgasket and if I'm right(correct me if I'm wrong) a compression test would tell you that, you would be bleeding off pressure instead of holding it..

Re: Having Issues....

A head gasket leak can leak into the chamber which can cause a deal cylinder and will definitely produce white smoke. A leak doesnt always mean coolant will find its way down to the oil too so dont rule it out just b/c the oil looks fine.

Re: Having Issues....

If he pulls his plugs and there is oil on them that's a good sign of a headgasket leak as well right?

Not really.. oil doesnt run thru the head gaskets so oil on the plug would indicate bad rings.

Could bad rings cause it as well? The only other time I had a car with that problem is when I had a cracked head,.

Re: Having Issues....

Welps, I found the culprit!!!

I had almost everything torn down since I was thinking it was the passenger head gasket...I decided to preform a compression check first to ensure that was my problem..Well, I did a check and everything looked okay

For some reason I decided to prime my fuel pump and then bump the starter over to see if any injectors were possibly sticking open...Well after priming the fuel pump I could actually hear an injector leaking on the passenger side dripping into the cylinder...Sure enough, once I bumped the starter fuel shot everywhere out of that cylinder

Please no one make my mistake and purchase Accel Injectors!!!!!!!!

Re: Having Issues....

I think I'm going to buy some Lucas injectors that Racetronix sells. They seem to be priced reasonably. Do you know if they are any good?

Re: Having Issues....

I'll be doing some research tonight on that topic...So far, all I have seen is positive on the Lucas Injectors...

Re: Having Issues....

Do you guys think any harm could have been done in the 20mins I drove home w/ the #6 injector stuck open? I guess the o2 sensor was going crazy thinking it was too rich and that was why my car was running like crap..I did a compression check on #6 and everything was ok, so it didnt wash out my rings...
I alrdy ordered my 42lb lucas injectors

Thanks

Re: Having Issues....

My only concern since your compression came back fine is excess fuel in the oil, but you said that one of the first things you did was change it, so I think you're fine.
