Having Engine knock or noise......
So, I'm not really sure if this is a problem with my valvetrain, or my bottom end. But this sound sounds very familiar to a spun bearing. Sounds like there are marbels bouncing around in my driver's side valve cover. It could possibly be one of the rockers, but I'm not sure. This really sounds a lot like my dad's car when he spun a main bearing. The car still seems to have full power, which is why I'm unsure what it is. And the temps has stayed the same, so has the oil temp. Is it possible for one or two of the rockers to become loose somehow and rattle around? I was maybe thinking a knock from bad gas??? The gas is 7 months old. But, when I put it into storage I did put some fuel treatment in the tank. ANyone have any ideas?? ThanksVideo
Take the valve cover off and have a look. It might be easily apparent. The noise does seem kind of slow for something in the valve train, though. Does the sound go away after warm up? Almost sounds like a relay or maybe the air pump trying to kick on?

The airpump isn't on the car anymore. So I doubt it could be that
. I noticed the sound after I got back from a normal drive. So the car was up to normal temp. I would take the valve cover off, but I don't have the tools. I need allen wrenches and I don't have any. I have allen style bolts because of my over the valve cover looms.

Ok, not the air pump.
Is it the click that happens every once in a while in the video? Like right between seconds 3 and 4? It sounds the same every time.
Sure it could not be the a/c compressor clutch?

Yep, it's that knock/click that happens at right away, 4 secs, and 8 seconds. Then nothing for the rest of the time. I don't have the A/C on, so could it be possible that it would turn on? I haven't used the A/C in a very long time, and I haven't heard this noise before. But as you can see, it idles just fine, and oil pressure seems to be normal. I'm stuck on this. Also, no SES light going off. Thanks for your help Shoebox.
Oh yeah, do you think this could be from Bad fuel??? It is 7 months old because of storage.

Don't see how fuel is going to cause that repetative noise. Just for the heck of it, check to see if you can see the a/c clutch engaging. It does come on with the defrost, too.
Otherwise, see if you can further isolate the location of the noise.

I got some more info about what it could be. Do you think it could be a water pump going out or an opti? Couple people have told me it can make a noise like this when the water pump or opti is on it's way out. Thanks.
