have a problem with my max AC
my max AC no longer works properly, it works fine under idle but as soon as u give it any gas it cuts off like the regular AC does under high acceleration, anybody have this problem? is it a vacuum leak? and is there anyway to make it colder?
Yes you have a vacuum leak. I had the same problem but what is actually happening and you don't know it is the vents are redirecting the air from mid level to feet and defrost when that happens. Your job will be to find where the leak is occuring. What I did was pull the hose off the vacuum check valve up at the firewall first. It released a lot of vacuum from the reserve canister. That let me know the problem was not in the engine bay.
I then went to the HVAC controller and disconnected the hoses from it. The black hose is vacuum and I tested it to be sure it had engine vacuum. I then manually vacuumed each colored hose with a mityvac brake bleeder pump. One, the bi-level actuator would not hold vacuum. Once I found the actuator, I discovered the end of the hose had come off.
Many others have found either the check valve in the engine bay is cracked and others have found the hose at the reserve canister is worn through.
