dave,
Well, tbh you aren't going to get any kind of major FI power adder and just slap it on for $3k and expect it to perform well for any amount of time without all the other necessities. Especially on an LT1. My guess would be that's probably about a $10k job or higher when you're all said and done. But I am by no means an expert on FI, so you would be better off making some posts in the appropriate forum to familiarize yourself with some good setups if you are seriously considering taking this road.

For $3000, you could get yourself a nice LE heads/cam package, injectors, etc.

Also it wouldn't hurt to consider doing things other than engine. Some good suspension mods can go a long way as well. Hell, even consider some better brakes, LT1 brakes are crap.

You could even spend a little money on appearance mods, I'm not talking about ricing it out or anything, but some nice wheels and tires, maybe have it detailed and cleaned up real nice. Make it stand out from the rest of the crowd with some class.

Edit: Ok, I'll jump on the bandwagon too. OR you can donate me $1000 for some headers and exhaust. I've been trying to save up for 4 months, and between my wife spending money, and her spending more money, then her spending even MORE money, and the price of all things going up crazy high lately, I can't save a friggan dime.

I must say I'm really envious of you guys that can say I have x amount of dollars to spend on my car. I'm so jealous... lol. Maybe some day.

Good luck

I also assume you have full bolt-ons.. i.e.. header, cat-back, CAI... These will be needed for the above heads and cam package's..

Unless you bought a used forced induction kit, you will be hard pressed to find one for 3K. I would go with a heads/cam setup, your planned budget should be able to afford a nice LE combo and the required supporting mods.

I would go with a good heads\cam package.

To do forced induction right, IMHO, I think you need to go with forged components and drop the compression to around 9:1. On this board, I've seen time and time again where stock LT1's have not done well with forced induction in the long run.

Thumbs up

Don't know if it is an A4 or M6, but IMHO, if it were an M6 I would defintley be getting a good 9" rearend before I tore off into major engine modifications. It isn't the biggest bang-for-the-buck, but I don't like breaking things. And to me, a heads and cam package would put you that much closer to a dead rearend at the track. I guess if it's an A4 you got some wiggle room though.

Look into a good heads/cam setup and supporting mods... What all is currently done to your car?

Feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions...

How about giving us a complete mod list?

If you don't already have a stronger rear end, spend your money on a Dana 60 with 3.73s or 4.10s. If you add big power without a rear end that can take it, you're going to break something. If you're into drag racing, throw in a set of slicks and watch your ET drop by a full second.
