Has happened a few times....where when i start the car up the RPM's guage doesnt read

Its happened a few times over the past year or two when i start the car up and then start to drive around, it takes a few min for the RPM's to start reading on the dash....granted i drive the car like 400-600 miles a year now, but i was wondering if this is a common thing or if there was any to fix this?

thanks!

Not common. Most likely, is a bad connection or ground. Trans. sending unit is exposed to the environment, so I would start there. And work my way up to the tach.

I had this happen to my car twice last summer. It was only after the car sat in the heat all day. I would start it up and the RPMs wouldn't read for the first few minutes or so. After that it was fine. I just assumed it was something heat-related since it hasn't happened since.

If it happens again, tap on the front of the guage cluster window. Sometimes the needle just gets stuck.

+1 for stuck needle. I have to do it every time. Give the dash a good smack and it will pop up.

I had that problem but it was more serious then a stuck needle. My crank sensor went out. Car would still start but had no tach. Although I dont think you have a crank sensor on a 94 but im not sure.
