Has anyone tried New XFI LT1 comp cams?

I would like some feedback/guidance to help pic an LT1 cam. The car is a 96 6-speed. I have some used stage 2 CNC ported heads, shorty SLP headers, 1.6 alum rockers to install. I am probably going to add 52 or 54mm TB & 3.73 gear & 28 lb injectors to the install setup. The application is a 3-4 day per week driver car. I have been looking at the new XFI cams for LT1's. The two that look good to me for a driver is 210/218 dur 560/555 lift or
the 218/224 dur-570/565 lift both with 113 lsa. This is for a dual cat OBD II car and no SES light and decent fuel milage is a condern. What I'd like is some people who have tried these cams or similar with input on emissions problems or fuel milage/driveabilty. Thanks for the help and info!

If youre getting ported heads i wouldnt waste your money on an off the shelf cam.

Check out www.eportworks.com or www.advancedinduction.com, tell them you want an emmissions friendly setup and they will make you one.

btw 96-97 slp shorties are junk, i would get at least midlenght headers.

You will need to get your computer retuned with either combo to avoid throwing codes. Especially with the bigger injectors.

Hows the SES light and does emissions test pass ok? How is fuel milage or how many miles to a tank approx? Hows the idle and at what approx RPM? Thanks.

The heads were ported prior so I don't know flow numbers. The only mid-lenths are Mac and AS&M that I know of. Any other midlenth brand suggestions? The SLP's are really that bad, huh? Dang the SLP's are basically new coated. PCM for less mentioned they could do the reprogram. Thanks.

Would you recommend just going with a adjustable fuel press regulator and stock injectors instead of the 28 lb injectors and stock press regulator? Thanks.

I have the 07-502-8 Comp Cam, 218/224 .537/.545 lift with 112 LSA and I love it. It pulls REALLY hard and it cams good at idle, sounds like nothing else. I get about 230 miles to the tank driving around town mostly and I have gotten 315 miles to the tank driving to the beach. It actually gets better mileage if you keep the RPM's up around 2000 or 3000. I did not set any codes when I installed it and it really is a good cam. Good Luck, Chris.

I haven't profiled one, but from the specs it looks like the ramp profiles are pretty extreme, better have parts set up for good valvetrain control. I am looking at using one of these cams too, or have Bret make me one.

You might want to do a search on this topic.

The XFI lobes are the newest design and they were developed to work with Pro Mags and beehives on the spintron. In the right application they are really usefull.

Roller rockers. Stiff, steel. Not as cheap as the Ebay specials.

The 502 is a great cam, but it's from the XE grind, not the XFI.

Bret, do you know how ofter CC recomends spring changes with these more aggressive lobes? I like how these cams were specifically designed for the beehives, but how long are they supposed to last before fresh springs should be installed.

Would you think Crane aluminum 1.6 will hold up or should only steel be considered?
Thanks.
