Has anyone bought the new black 40 Series Flowmaster??
I'm pretty sure this isn't "new", I swear I've seen the 40 series around well over a year ago. Just to let you know, I had an 80 series muffler on my Z28, I ran a 14.6x then opened up my cutout and ran a 14.4x AND I picked up a little over 2mph. With flowmasters you either like the sound or you don't. I think it makes my car sound like a truck.....but that's why I have a DMH cutout on it also!
The 40-series is the ORIGINAL Flowmaster.. When he says "NEW" BLACK ones, he's talking about the new ones, hehe... Flowmaster makes 40-series "Originals", 40-series "Delta Flow" and now this new 40-series. I can't get the page to come up at work, but it's http://www.flowmastermufflers.com ... Supposedly best flowing ones yet.
Truthfully the BEST flowing ones are their 1-chamber race mufflers, but they don't do much to make the exhaust quieter. It's more of a resonator to make it sound good, but not quiet.
Personally I love Flowmaster's sound.... coolest sound ever. But their street mufflers don't flow as well as some others. On the other hand, they aren't bad, either, IMO.

i was checkin out their website, and they seem to be promoting their new "Super 40" mufflers. They are black, maybe thats what the original poster was talking about.
Here's what their website is claiming:
Significantly Outflows the older 2 chamber mufflers
Even More Horsepower
Less Interior sound and Deeper Exterior Sound
New Patented Design
5 x 10 Inch Case Modeled after our Race Mufflers
Classic Black Case
All Offset Models
2.25", 2.5", 3"
Far exceeds older models on Dyno Tests
Im looking into actually selling my borla and buying a force II flowmaster (single outlet design), then replacing the 30 series that comes with it for this new Super 40 muffler. A lot of people here talk **** about the flowmasters, but thats because most flowmaster users on here the 80 series crossflow design, and those flow like crap. However, the single-in, single-out designs flow great, especially the 40 series. Its all about preference though. i absolutely love the sound of flowmasters, far more than any other muffler. ive almost thought about even chopping off my borla muffler and welding the new 40 series in place of it, but i just cant bring myself to chop up a 700 dollar exhaust system.
