Hardest plug change
Hardest plug change
I recentely changed the plugs in my car and I was suprised at how long it didn't take me. I've heard so many times how it took people, hours upon hours, even sometimes days. I think in total it took me 2.5-3 hours, although I didn't do wires but that won't be hard. The hardest plug it took me to change was definitely number 8. Drivers side took me like 25 minutes total. I did change the plugs on my brothers Z about 2 months before hand so I had alittle pratice but still that didn't take me that long. People are right; working around these engines is all by feeling your way.
So what plug took was the hardest for you to change?

Re: Hardest plug change
I could have changed all the plugs in a little over an hour if it hadn't been for that #2 plug. The plugwires on the other hand were a REAL pain. Trying to get them around the passenger side front corner of the block took me two hours at least. Total job took around 4 hrs.
Re: Hardest plug change
If you pull the alternator, #2 is not tough at all.
When doing the wires, the worst part is trying to figure out how the clips come apart without really being able to see them. I wonder if they are available if you bust one?

Re: Hardest plug change
Odd, I don't remember #2 being hard at all but I did take the alternator off-I don't see how you could possibly do #2 without doing that. I had my biggest problem with #8. I could touch it from about 3 directions but that was all. I finally got it bytaking the starter loose. If the Y pipe wasn't in the way it would be a piece of cake.
Re: Hardest plug change
For all you dual cat guys, by dropping the drivers side y-pipe, you get EASY access to the #8 plug. I'm not sure if you can do that with the single cat because the dual cat y-pipe is in two sections.

With my headers, that #2 took me about as long as the rest combined. I have a single cat and the Y-pipe is the first thing to go so I can reach the back plugs, which aren't bad at all
