Hardened Pushrods for a 96 Lt1 w/ 1.6 rr's? Ya or Nay
Hardened Pushrods for a 96 Lt1 w/ 1.6 rr's? Ya or Nay
Is it necessary or a good idea to upgrade the pushrods to a hardened one. I belive 96 did not come w/ hardened ones like the early years. What do you suggest? Don't need anything wild as I am just using Lt4 springs and GMPP 1.6 rr's. Stock length of course.

I still bent some with my Crane rockers. If you can afford it now do it, if not next time you have $100 to spare get some. Eventually you will wish you had them. I bent several and then finally got the trick flow ones from Summit.

Also The comp cam ones I found where 7.195" where as stock is 7.2" are those close enough? Will you ever find 7.2"?

if the springs are good enough they really should bind so there shouldnt be any piston-valve contact if you overrev, I belive the springs are what cause that in an over rev like that, am i wrong?.
And if a pushrod bends and breaks some **** it sends metal peices in the motor.
Don't know which way is better...Anyone else?
I have stock internals besides 1.6 rr's. so i dont know about p/v clearance.

Ya need to measure your P/V clearance. I only run 80/100 on my builds and coil bind ain't used for that.
PR metal is a whole lot better than piston metal and they probably will just bend so carry extra in the glove box.
With a stock short block ya won't miss too many shifts and it will be out for a redo.
