hardened or chrome moly? why the HUGE price diff?

hardened or chrome moly? why the HUGE price diff?

Ok these are for LE2 heads anc cam, guideplates and nsa 1.6 rockers, what do you guys think? CM has them for 30 and the chrome moly are 130.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the Chromemoly pushrods are going to be more wear resistant than the regular hardened steel ones. Not to mention that the chromemoly pushrods are going to be lighter than the steel ones, which is a big thing (weight) when it comes to valvetrain items.

I have the chromemoly pushrods and they are 1 piece. That is probably the major difference besides the above listed advantages.

The top two say chromemoly and you say hardened, whats your reasoning, I would much rather pay the $30 bucks if there isnt a big difference but I dunno now.

Chromemoly all the way, it's one piece, lights (quick potential for the revs) plus it's stronger, and they are not prone to fatigue like hardened....it's all up to you, ask yourself what you want for your car....Chromemoly is more bulletproof, but if your not gonna beat on it, then Hardened onese can get you by.....

I would pick the hardened becouse they would be fine for your application. If you were building a professional racing, high rev, every 1/100th of a HP counted, then I would get chomemoly. I have been running the hardned to 6300 w/o any problems.

I'll have to agree. The hardened will be fine. Sure, lighter is better, but you'll never be able to tell a difference in a street car. I'm running regular old hardened pushrods and they've been fine up to 6,500 RPM plus the squeeze. If we all bought the very best for our engines it would get out of hand in a hurry. Kind of like using Titanium retainers with stock valves and rockers. Doesn't make much sense.
