Hard time starting
Hard time starting
I go to start the car (after I let the fuel pump prime) and the car just doesn't want to turn over. I turn the key and the guage goes all the way down and then the engine starts to slowly turn over. It is a starter, not battery issue and was wondering if the whole starter needs to be replaced or if it would just be the solenoid?
If the whole starter needs to be replaced, where can I get a new one, I browsed on Advanced Auto's site and all they had were remans.

If the starter rotates slowly, it's not the solenoid. But it may also not be the starter. You first have to be sure there is enough power(both current and voltage) getting to the starter
If you KNOW it's the starter, you can get a power master brand, Summit brand or OEM. NEVER EVER get electrical parts from a cheap auto parts store. Lifetime warranty or not. You will notice that high quality replacement parts don't have a lifetime warranty. The cheap crap does. Seems confusing but that's where they snafoo you.
However, unless you ruled out the other causes, don't assume it's the starter either. Lucky for you, it can be tested.
