Hard Accels = ABS Inop light = no traction control / Very odd
Ok, under hard acceleration, my ABS INOP light comes on. When this happens, the traction control will not engage.
Im wondering if its related to the problem I have where when it gets cold out, and I go WOT, the pedal feels like it has a slight pressure back at me, almost like the trac control does when its in use (but not nearly as firm).
Any ideas?

Sounds like a loose connection some where. I think there is a sensor on top of rear axle in the center and at each wheel. Take them apart and make sure the connections are clean. Any time the abs light goes on and off is usally due to a bad connection not the abs unit it's self.
My guess is the sensor on the axle that's where any movement would happen under hard take offs.
Also traction control and abs are tied together, if one doesn't work the other won't ethier.

I know this is an ancient post but was wondering if you've solved the problem or if anyone else has ideas!
The same exact thing causes my ABS light to come on! Except GM scanned it and they said it was throwing the code for RightFront Speed sensor. I wonder why accelerating hard would set it off?
BTW I dont have traction control.

Wow. I'm surprised that other people have the EXACT same problem as me. Under accel, the abs inop light comes on and then braking feels different (obviously, since abs isn't working).
I have read that there are noted problems with the abs motor in the LT1, particularly in humid, hot environments (I live in Florida).
However, (and most peculiar), the ABS computer should NOT engage unless 1) wheel sensors reporting near lock-up 2) brake switch is closed i.e. brake pedal pressed. It doesn't make sense for the EBCS to be engaging the brakes under heavy accel given that your foot wouldn't be on the brakes.
I intend to do some playing with it this weekend and will report my findings. You all do the same please. I will start with attempting to disconnect / disable the ABS altogether to see if it fixes the terrible accel my car experiences. If the car accels faster, I know the ABS malfunction is causing my performance problems.
At any rate, I'll post whatever I figure out.
Keep this post alive folks...!

I read on another post that plug wires close to the abs wires on the shock tower can also cause interferance (likely given this happens under accel). I recently installed shielded Accel Ex 9000 plug wires. The problem existed before though.
Anyone also experience sluggish performance before the abs inop light comes on?
