To guys who did not install headers themselves

I'm looking to get some LTs installed on my car. Let's just say LTs no Y-Pipe or anything.

I got quoted 375 by some nutjob in Baltimore, that's almost how much they cost. Can anyone give me a good price they've gotten in the past, thanks.

PS: No I cannot install them myself, I lack the skills and a garage.

Re: To guys who did not install headers themselves

This is why most of us do the install ourselves.
I was told between 400 and 800 dollars to do the install with shops I checked with back when I was living in an apartment and could not do major work in the driveway.
I waited until I had a garage and did them myself.
There is alot of hours in the install thats why its so high.
It took me roughly 16 hours to install LTs by myself with the car on jackstands, I was in no way hurrying but 8 hours with a lift is not out of the question and at 45 to 50 an hour...........

This is why you need to find some fellow f-buds nearby. I've got a friend in Chicago that couldn't change his own oil in the parking garage without fear of being kicked out.

He drove out to the suburbs where we know a guy with a lift. He now drives a cam'd car

Install didn't cost him a thing but room and board for me when I go to the Windy City

$375 is not that bad of a price. If you don't have the space or the knowledge, your going to have to bit the bullet and pay someone.

Yep. Find some buddies, or fork it over. 375 is a pretty decent price for LT1 long tubes.

Re: To guys who did not install headers themselves

i'll be paying between 100 and 200 bucks (the reason i'm having them put on is because it's that cheap). more than worth it TO ME, considering the nightmare that my friend and I went through on his car only to not even be able to finish it. that sounds pretty decent tho, 375

Re: To guys who did not install headers themselves

I was quoted around $200 for the install, then he became wise and found out how hard it was to install Long-tubes on an LT1 and charged me $400. Went to go pick it up and told me to never bring my car there again

Re: To guys who did not install headers themselves

Im not. But I just cant catch a break. Went to Lowes to get some Grade 8 bolts figured they would be just as strong as any header bolt if not stronger. Go home start boltin the LT's up and realise that a couple of the bolts where they go the heads on them hit the primarys and i can tighten them. So now i think im just gonna go ahead and order the ARP bolts from summit. Then yesterday i lost a piece of the gasket cause i cutt eh one into 3 little ones. I was told this would make it easier. Well it didn't. But worked on it for about of 11 total hours with anywhere from 5 to 2 ppl at a time goin at it. My hands are torn up and im worn out and i havent even satrted on it today yet. I need to find someone who can get my O2's out of the stock manifolds nand i need to make some extensions.

I feel your pain. I did a head swap a couple of months ago. I started on a Sunday and finished 1 MONTH LATER With New England weather taunting me, and not being able to get to the head bolts through my long-tubes I was about to just give up and put it all back together without swapping the heads. Then one day I just went out, picked up my tools and on the first try took out the head bolt that was stopping me from finishing the swap.

Re: To guys who did not install headers themselves

Get the 12 point ARPs, they make life a lot easier, or I can send you some bolts to get the job done. I have enough of my stage 8s leftover to send em to you if you want them
