Guys with OBDII and cams...where are you going for tunning?
Like the subject says, where did you get your tunning after your cam install. Is PCMforless still the place to go? What about madz28.com? Madz28 is $50 cheaper, any reason for this? Any other options out there? I want quality work obviously but the cheaper the better. Thanks in advance for your insight

I've heard mixed results about pcmforless from friends, vast majority good, but they apparently programmed a few completely different than the submitted specs which I'd contribute to QA Process Control weaknesses which may have been fixed since then. I'm sure it was taken care of because they have a good rep, but what a pain to deal with sending back n forth. I'd say get a wideband dyno tune spend the 400 bucks and be done with it right the first time.

I haven't heard that 97's could change to ODB1.... I think I would explore that a little more to be sure.
Is Lafeyette, IN very far away from Cincinnati? If not, you should shoot LT1Dave an email and see if he can take care of you. He's over on the east side of town (Eastgate). His website is in my sig.
'97 can be converted to OBDI, as there is no wiring harness issue I'm aware of. I know the knock sensor needs to be changed, but that is it. I ran OBDI for a little while as a loaner from Thunderracing while my OBDII PCM woes were being worked out.

all you have to do is put a resitor in the pcm to compinsate for the obd2 knock sensor.
Thanks for the info guys! I would like to switch to OBDI if possible since mail order tunning can be hit or miss. It looks like a few of you guys have done the switch without problems so I'm leaning that way. Thanks again.

i have a 97 and switched it to obdi, only had to plug in the pcm. i bought it from bryan at pcmforless. you can change the knock sensor over to an obdi or have a resister put in an obdi computer to work with the obdii knock sensor, bryan already does this when you get a conversion pcm.
i've had no problems with it

The same guy that installed my cam is going to do the tunning. He also works at the place that sells the cam I bougt, so he knows how to tune for this cam. And he has a wide band. He said it would be about $150. Pretty good if you ask me.
