Guys with lowered cars and relocation brackets

How does your car launch and was it worth the handling gain?

How much of a drop?

My friend had trouble in his 97 bolt-on M6 when it was lowered. It just wouldn't transfer to the rear well enough for a decent launch. I would think that 383 beast of yours would HATE being lowered. Stock height is low enough. Thought about the Eibach drag set up? I like the way that looks, and a guy I know with a nice 355 LT1 seems to hook well with it. Another friend of mine kept his stock rear springs/coils and got some Koni adjustable fronts and it REALLY bites off the line; of course removal of his front sway bar helps too.

While my car isn't putting down NEAR the numbers your car is likely putting down, removal of the front anti sway bar really straightened my launch a lot. Where as I use to get right rear spin, it's as if each tire now bites equally.

I will never lower my car, and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. Those Koni adjustables really changed the stance of my friend's Z (for the better, IMO) and the car really transfers to the rear nicely off the line. I think they're pricey...but he got em used from an Fbod friend on the cheap.

The relocation brackets restore the lca geometry when your car is lowered. What happens on a lowered fbody is the lca body mounting location is lower than the rear housing hence when you try to launch there's no leverage for the lca's to plant the tires.
With the relocation brackets you can drop the rear mounting of the lca's so they can push down on the tires on launch, it also helps to have an adjustable torque arm to set the pinion angle.

I don't know if this will help any or not but when mine was stock I consistently cut 2.0 60' times. After I lowered the car w/relocation brackets I also bought a set of 17" rims with Nitto drag radials. With that setup I was also cutting 2.0 60' times...no better, no worse. I haven't tried running street tires on the rear yet...maybe sometime after I get home (see location). My guess is my 60' times will be a little closer to 2.1 on street tires.

Handling wise the car seems to be a lot tighter than it was before but otherwise the ride is still pretty much the same.

I would say that a good set of adjustable shocks would make a difference as well...I'm running stock shocks right now.

I am dropped 2.5"s,before the relos was having more trouble launching.
Since the relos it is much better but will never be as good as stock height, but I use my car everyday and am prepared to sacrifice a little 60ft for MUCH better handling.
I am going with E.T.Streets with the 9" diff, should hook up as well if not better than most of the competition!!!

P.S.?// Am doing 1.82 60ft on very easy[1600 rpm] launches with my BFG DRs and 10 bolt now.

There is enough of a change in how it grips that you can feel it as you launch. It certainly plants the wheels nicely.

Trey, if you're interested I can give you a deal on a set of relocation brackets. I'll send you a PM.

i'm lowered with relo brackets. I can pull consistent 2.0 60's withOUT heating my nitto drags on 17s. I'm know i can put down better times if i had the ballz to heat my drags and launch at higher rpm with the stock 10 bolt. For awhile i was really worried for my 10 bolt because a guy i ran against at the track blew his out. Lowering in my opinion is worth it unless your a regular bracket racer.
