Guys with Jet Hot LTs and Hooker Y, how does it SOUND?

Just like the topic says. I read a few threads where people complained about a raspy sound from an ORY pipe....

Well, I am open header now, but the Y pipe is on the way.

So how does it sound?

It sounds a little too raspy for my taste. Maybe I'm getting old (29 lol) but I ordered a Dynatech Silencer Cone, hopefully that will quite down the rasp a little. I have to say though that I got a lot more street races since that combo, especially from ricers! I guess they think that if I sound like them then they can take me
What catback do you have? I have the flowmaster and some people here claim that that is the cause of the rasp. Who knows.
Good luck, and let the board know how it turns out!

I have the Corsa. I certainly hope I don't lose that Corsa tone.

With the offroad Y-pipe (no cats), it will be fairly raspy sounding through your Corsa. Also higher-pitched and more unrefined.

It is not the "muffler" that is the cause for the rasp, but rather the fact that you have no cats through a cat-back set-up. ANY catless Y-pipe going out a "single" exhaust set-up will be raspy (some systems just sound worse than others this way).

Only way to get rid of this crappy sound is through the use of highflow cats with an existing Y-pipe or a "true dual" non Y-pipe set-up (which does not get raspy without cats on our LT1/LS1 motors)...

Well there are no dual cat Y pipe options for these headers right now.

I just hope it will sound better than total crap. Right now I am running open header with a set of turndowns.

Someone on this board just posted that they had mufflex make them a custom coated dual cat y-pipe for their LT headers.

Just giving you options. You said originally that there were no dual cat Y-pipe options, so I gave you one.

Sorry for trying to help. Geesh

All I am saying is that I can't very well make it all the way up north with my car to have Mufflex fabricate me a dual cat pipe for tremendous expense.

No, I guess you misunderstood me. Mufflex made it and then sent it to the guy, just like they sell their ORP Y-pipe.

Here's the link. His username is Mr. Whitey.

I am gonna buy a cone after the finals week is over, got some raspiness with my borla. I have hooker LT's with hooker Y-pipe, no cats. I was wondering if I would need to put the cone after the Y-pipe, just where the cat supose to be , or put it in the end after the muffler. The second option is a quicker install, but I think that the cone after Y pipe would work better
