Question Guy claims to "pull" something at the back of the intake...

A friend of a friend with a 97 WS6 was telling the other less-educated LT1 guy that when he races, he would reach to the back of the intake and either pull out or on some device and he would see some sort of increase in power.

The other guy who was telling me this tried to show me what the part looked like on his car and what he poined to looked to be something with the fuel and it looked cyclindrical with some sort of line running into one end and out of the other. Anyone know what this may have been?

Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator?
People have been known to see increases in power for a short time before the computer relearns the fuel system and changes things back to the way it likes.

I bet he pulls the vacuum line off the regulator. If the pump is making good pressure, it can raise the fuel rail pressure, effectively changing the injector constant from what is programmed in the PCM .

I was also thinking it was a FPR but wasn't sure what one looked like.

Well on my buddy's car (not the mystery part guy's), it was for rthe most part centered although it looked as if it could be moved by just pushing it to the side.

Did it look something like this?

Greendemon and Nateh were probably on the right track with their thoughts. I can't imagine it being that much of a help though...

If the same thing that is happening as GreenDemon said, I can see a bit of power being made temporarily until the PCM catches on. WS6.com I believe it was saw something like 11rwhp and 14ft. Its just hard to believe if this is getting good results, temporarily or not, that I haven't seen anything on here about it.

Yeah the hydocilator, and you haven't heard much about it on here because we like to keep these secret HP making devices just that... a secret!

I used to unplug that line and hook up little nitrous canisters to it. Then I grew up and installed a blower.
