guide plate ?

guide plate ?

can someone tell me if i can run guide plates with 1.6 self aligning RR's? (just for the added insurance, i should have went NSA ) i shift at 6500

Not recommended. If the guidplate guides it one way and the SA tip the other, there could be binding in the valvetrain and that would be very bad. I can tell you that while i was waiting for my nonSA rockers in the mail i did run them for...~40 miles and they didn't bind. However, if your guideplate wasn't lined up perfectly it could cause binding. Especially if you would use standard SBC guideplates instead of LT1 guideplates.

Bottom line, don't do, it could cause major problems and it really isn't any extra insureance.

thanks, they seem stable. i havent had any problem in 2K miles with lots of abuse, it it hit 6800rpm once when my tranny took a dump and didnt shift into 3rd
