Got working on the 383 Firebird a bit some more tonight finally.
I had to take a break from this car for a short while, once I found out I lost my brake lines, that NOBODY makes them...not the dealer, not classic tube, couldn't locate any online, I went into a little state of hopelessness, and put the project off to the side to cool down for a bit, so to speak. Didn't work on it, touch it, hardly even looked at it.
A week or so ago I did locate some brake lines in a JY, but the ******* who took the master cylinder/ABS from the car decided to just CUT the lines instead of undoing them. I took the lines anyways, got them for free since they were cut.
I again got bummed out, because I had to call all around town to find someone who did BUBBLE flares, nobody really had the means to make them, so again...put off to the side. Fast forward to today, I finally got the motivation again to get this thing on the road, so I dropped off the hacked lines, and my ABS module whatever to get the lines both extended about 13", coupled, and flared. Cost me $40, but hey, I got my brake lines now.
I'm becoming a PRO at dropping this K-member.
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've dropped it now. This time was a bit different. I actually took off the hood and lifted the car off the K-member by a large chain wrapped around the strut tower brace. The plan is when it's time to put everything ack togother, I'm just going to wheel the whole assembly under the car, and then lower the car onto it via the engine hoist/strut tower brace.
I've still got to order spark plugs & a crimp tool for them, for the custom length lines, and now I need to get some flex brake lines to go from the lines to the calipers, as well as grind off quite a bit of the brake line mount brackets. Not much to buy though really.
Tomorrow I will probably work on it some more, but maybe not...Racing is Friday, and I'm taking "The Curse" (Mustang 5.0, 1988) to the track...making it's long-awaited return appearance, so I might clean that up some-bit.
Notice the blingin' yellow STB, LOL! Not sure how it's going to look now. Oops. Should still look good.

As it sits right now. Wonder if I'll actually be able to get the wheels up! heh

New brake line extensions I had made. $20 ea, blech.

Test fitting the original lines to my stock K-member to make sure everything was lined up how it's supposed to be.

I hope "The Curse" doesn't rub off on that pretty engine sitting there. There's the stupid suspension for the eleventy billionth time. GRR.

Rotors got all rusty again, got those cleaned up....again.

Shot of me and my work:

This couch is a bit uncomfortable...thought it was a cool pic though.

Here's an idea of how high up the car is LOL

why dont i just take all those LT1 parts off your hands. seeing as that car will never run again it would be ashame to waste all those goodies.

Didn't do much tonight, just cleaned up the brake lines real good, cut the brackets for them to fit, and generally was lazy...
I really don't know why I bothered, nobody's every going to see them I guess I just have an acute attention to detail and can't let dirty things go back in the car
Anyways, they came out better than new looking. These are the ones I got out of the JY that I had the 13" extensions made for.

All done:

I think you are going to miss working on your car once its all together and running. Hell, I still remember your "marbels in the intake" thread you made back when the old motor went... that was a long time ago!
