Thumbs down Got my head off, check this out...doesn't look good....

Got the LT1 outta the turd, and the head torn off (Inbetween rolling around with chicks on the creeper!)

Anyways, here's what I found. It really doesn't look good. I don't know if these blocks are sleeved or not...but that looks a little more than .030" over to me

Speak amongst yourselves

Are these blocks sleeved? Am I hosed?

THis is what a GOOD piston next to it looks like:

No sleeves in these engines. Only way to know the depth of the scratches is to go out till there gone and measure it.

You could go out .060 if you have to. You may want to locate a block in a JY.

Hope it's not your daily driver. Bore and hone gona cost $300.00 and $100.00 to deck it.

Good luck

It doesnt look all that bad honestly. Hard to tell from pics but I'll bet a .030 bore would easily remove the scratches. They dont look that deep at all. But its hard to be accurate by looking at pics ya know.

But really the only way to know is to pull it apart and take it to the machine shop. They will be able to tell you.

As for the sleeves, no. They are not sleeved, it just looks that way from where the gasket was. Once you clean it up it wont look like that.

looks to me like you might have found either the bad rod or the main bearing that is shot. those are some pretty good scuffs in the bore where the ring(s) were too tight I imagine. bear in mind which cylinder that is and take a close look at the bearings.

Just being observant, but all three of your cars listed in your sig do not run. Is that normal? Abuse or just bad luck

Hope this turns out for the better for you.

Bad Luck for the most part.

1. The '87 Coupe is in Rhode Island, I just bought that, it's got no engine/tranny, I'm putting a Turbo'd 351 in that baby.

2. The 88LX was my daily driver, but I couldn't bring it back from germany because of a stupid reason (locking lugnut key wasn't with it), so I had to have someone ship it. While waiting for it, the brand new $3650 Lentech Strip Terminator 1000HP tranny that I put in it somehow **** the bed.

3. This thing? Hell, I dunno. I guess I shoulda stuck with a Ford
