Got the car back, now ?'s

Alright I got my 94 z back from the shop today. 16 hours worth of labor for the install of the headers, y pipe, cats and exhaust. The shop only charged me for 7 hours though Alright I got some questions now before I take it back next week for them to tighten things up.

1. On the jet hots the slip tube on the driver side header leaks a little or sometimes. The guy said I should get a clamp, but its a real tight space so I need something small. He said the pipe was 1 7/8. So what can I get for it? Does anyone sell a clamp for it?

2. The connecting member that goes accross the stock exhaust doesnt fit. So he said try to get some pieces and weld them to the holes, then get longer bolts. Then he said he would fabricate me one if I couldnt get it together. Any Ideas?

3. They said that the driver saide y pipe section is really close to the fuel line. He said I could drive it around and that would be fine, but I should try and get a heat shield on there. Any ideas? I was told some aluminum, but where do I put it? Do I bolt it to the frame or something??

4. Will the new exhaust and such have a little bit of an odor to it at first because it kinda of smells a little, but I wanna make sure im not burning through anything.

Other than that the car sounds awesome. The hooker cat back sounds sick with the long tubes. Ill try and get some pics and sound clips/video up soon.

Thanks
Mitch

I wouldnt use a clamp on the slip tube, I would pull the sliptube off and add a dab of high temp silicone to the outside edge of the tube and slip it back in, let it dry and go, if you must have a clamp just use a stainless wormscrew clamp and tighten it with a 1/4 inch socket.(but that would look like crap). The fuel ines can be wrapped and tied together with a starter heater sheild (mat type) made of the same kind of stff as that slip in cover onthe brake booster tube over to the intake (silver). The emmission tube stuff I have no idea, I can't really visualize what youre talking about on that.

Alright about that connecting part if you go to the link about and go to install headers, its the 32 row of pics down lol. Its a picture of the two headers and the connecting piece hanging down.

I really dont know what its called maybe I can explain it better. Its pretty flat with a little concave and has two holes for bolts on both sides. I think this piece goes over the stock y pipe and connects the frame. What the guy told me was the piece doesnt fit back over the new y pipe. I need to make little extensions and weld them over the holes, then get bigger bolts so it will cover the new y pipe. He said he wants to get all that stuff back on just to make sure. Sorry I cant explain it better.

doesnt pertain to your question at all, but doylestown isnt too far from here and where do you normally take your car to go dragracing? I only know of island dragway in NJ being the closest one for me. And how did you get those LTs to pass emissions in PA?

Hmm never been to the track, seeing how Ive only had the car for 6 months lol and could only drive it for 3 of those months. Atco and englishtown are the closest I believe. I actually just passed emissions so I got them installed and I am going to go to a performance shop for my heads and stuff and they pass emissions or so Ive heard from some people.
