Is this a good oil pump setup / right parts?
Is this a good oil pump setup / right parts?
Plan on changing my 100k mile pump when I have it apart for cam swap.
I've read the threads on the new design Melling pumps which have been breaking and Melling recommends their "select" pumps for high performance applications.
So I'm thinking of getting the select Melling 10554 pump (std vol/std pressure)
Getting the GM white spring 3848911 to put in it for higher pressure
And then getting a new GM pickup tube, 12550042
Will all of those parts work together and is that a good proven combo?

Here's a pic I found comparing the stocker M55 to the "Select" pumps
i have very good oil pressure with just the white spring - at 650 RPM hot its just under 20. Driving around it stays between 35 and 50, and WOT hits 60. cold motor will hit 70 sometimes.
I wish i would have known about welding the pickup tube while i was in there though...

soory, i did see the picture, i should have been a little more specific to what I am doin,
Ok, well as of right now I am building a "temporary" engine for my car it will be basically stock other than a a CC306 and car has bolt-ons in sig, my new engine should be ready next spring(budget permitting), and I am pretty much just doing new rings, rod b., main b., cam bushings and I already have a M155, instead of spending the $8X.XX on the select can i safely use the M155 with new white spring and new tacked on pickup?
I know the 10554's casting is stronger, but I am doing this rebuild on a shoe string budget as to not take away from funding from my other build and I need a dependable motor in the car right now since it is my daily driver...
... and thanks for all the help in advance and for all ya'll have helped with already!
