Is this a good idea?

I want to change my exhaust and dammit I want to do it asap!!

But the thing is, I can only do the catback now and this would force the headers to be put on hold!!

I have decided to go with a SLP Loudmouth with 2 Carsound High Flow Cats with a 3" Y going into Jet Hot LT's.

Influenced by this sound clip. http://www.webideas.net/1fstws6/revfar.mpg
Best sounding LT1 I have ever heard.

Anyway... would it be stupid to change the catback NOW and change the Headers, Y, and Cats on a later date? I am going to have the work done professionally if that matters any. Thanks in advance

If I do just the catback... do I need to weld anyway?

Catback = SLP Loudmouth

You'd be stupid to get the loudmouth period!.. Get a better exhaust sys. the loudmouth is way obnoxious around town and everywhere for that matter.. I'd say do the headers, and stuff to get that out of the way then focus on the catback.. there's minimal gain's to be had w/a catback.. Esp. compared to a set of headers..

Re: Is this a good idea?

You watch that video I posted? That exhaust sounds freakin amazing... L0L

A Loudmouth with cats sounds a lot better then a Loudmouth without cats. I am not worried about gains, just about the crappy looking tips/sound I have now without spending 1200$ in total for a new setup. So I was thinking change catback now so I can at least sound nice.

Re: Is this a good idea?

You could do some headers now, and swap out your muffler only for a decent price, and get the sound you are looking for..... just an idea.

PS: that sound vid sounds almost like my car without the raspiness, and all I've done is change the muffler.....

Re: Is this a good idea?

I don't have a sound clip but of all cabacks I've seen throughout the years, there's the best one inregards to craftmanship and sound! The only drawback is that they run for $750. Do a search on GMMG.........

I dont' want to be a jerk, but I like the way the SLP sounds with cats and thats what I want to go with. Do I have to weld the SLP to my cats? Or can I just slip fit it on and bolt it together with a pipe clamp or something? Because I don't want to have to reweld it when I get my headers put on.

Mind you that is just "MY" opinion.. It should slip right onto your car w/ the LT1 install kit..

Re: Is this a good idea?

I drive an LT1 with the slp loudmouth daily and put a lot of miles on my car. I will admit while getting on the throttle...it is pretty loud...but at steady speeds or just cruising around town...it isnt bad at all...it's loud...but i wouldnt call it obnoxious, it all depends on what u want ur car to sound like. If you would like to be loud driving around town...but sound good when ur loud, get a loudmouth and slap a set of LT's on it. If u dont want to be quite as loud...get a magnaflow or hooker cat-back something that will keep it a little more mellow.
