Good headers for under $500??

I'm doing a plug and wire change and I was thinking about getting a set of headers. I have a 94 Firehawk with no major mods.

What is good set of headers for around $500? I wanted get something better than shorties. Can I get a package that includes everything I need(Y-pipe,o2, AIR and EGR hook ups)? I want this to be as painless as possible!

Thanks...

Jet -hot is having a special right now $513 to the door. Mine came last week. That doesn't include a ypipe or anything, but it is a great deal on coated headers.

There are PLENTY of good headers for $500.

http://www.rit.edu/~jar5968/headers/headers.html

Your firehawk probably isn't a daily driver so you could get away with installing a set of uncoated Hookers with y-pipe for $530 from Jegs.

You can get Hookers and Dynatechs for around $400 with NO Y-pipe, but the y-pipe is going to run you at least $100. The Dynatechs are coated but do not come with collectors.

The jet-hot headers are an option too but they are relatively new and I don't know much about them.

Next best thing would be MAC's. They won't flow as good as the full length headers above, buy they only cost around $400 (including everything you need besides the cat.) and are still a very good header.

MACS are a good header for your price range and they come with a y-pipe. However, they are not ceramic coated but it's really up to you if you want ceramic coating. Jet-Hot is also selling coated MAC headers right now in the GP section, you should take a look.

Later,
Tyler

My BBKs, CAI, flowmaster muffler and some weight loss got me a 12.98...no complaints from me about $250 I spent on those BBKs. No doubt when I do heads/cam I'll go LT...but for stock set up, I think shortys are just right.

MACs are mid-length and you should be able to get them at a decent price.

Go to the For Sale section of this forum and you will find that lots of folks are selling used headers that are in great shape for under 500 bucks. If you are real lucky like I was, you could get a set of Coated Long Tubes and a 3in Coated Y-pipe for under 500 bucks.

Hope that helps,

I'm with this guy. I bought my headers off this forum for $200. Can't go wrong with buying quality used stuff; save money.

I would recommend going with some MAC headers and getting them Jet Hot Coated. Hooker headers would be the way to go but remember you still have to get a y-pipe that will range anywhere from 175.00 to 250.00.

Hey! Thanks for the cam, dude!! I still haven't installed it yet. Me and some friends decided we're going 7.9s 1/8th before it can go in, lol.
