i was taking out my old headunit and removed a whole bunch of wires and now when i turn the key the car does nothing. no accessories, no dome lights, no nothing. i checked the battery and it reads 12.3V, i checked all the fuses they were fine, i checked the connection at the battery it was fine. what would cause the car to do nothing when the key is turned?

 

the weirdest thing was when i went to connect the battery back up after removing the stereo there was no spark. there is always a spark?!?

What do you mean removed wires? Wires attatched to the HU/wire harness?

 

yeah all headunit wires and rca wires that went to amp

 

Was there any cutting involved? Hopefully whatever you seemed to do is reversable......was the battery disconnected when you did this?

 

did you check all of the fuses under the hood, all relays working? did you surge anything? any sparks during install/removal?

 

the battery was disconnected during the entire removal, so no sparks. the wires were twisted together so all i did was untwist them.

 

i just cleaned off all the posts and it sparked when i reconnected the negative post but still nothing when i get in and turn the key. i tried disconnecting and connecting it again and now there is no spark. anyone have any ideas?

Does the car have a factory alarm?

 

could it be VATS?

 

for your head unit there is a red wire and a yellow wire. yellow is straight from the battery, red is from the ACC pos. on the ignition. buy a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter)

 

i reset the comp and still nothing. i will try to see if the computer is getting power and if the head unit wires are getting power. i have a 94 trans am does it need to have a head unit hooked up for VATS or should it work without one?
