Re: Golen Motors

For all the customers I have tuned their Golen Engines, I have had very positive feedback on his bottom ends. They are always quiet, I have never seen any blow by, they have great tolerences from one cylinder to another, and they hold up really well to guys running them hard. He has two guys now making 550 to 600 RWHP on supercharged setups on his bottom ends that I have worked on, I am sure there are others. I have to say in my opinion based on my experience is they build a top notch bottom end and at a good price

i bought a stroker shortblock from golen and the service chad gave me was second to none, the prices are a little high but the service and quality make up for the high price. highly reccomend them!!!

Re: Golen Motors

Another satisfied customer from Chad Golen. I too am making right at 600hp and his shortblock has taken everything I can throw at it and I have a habbit of breaking ****. His customer service is also the best I have encountered in a machine shop. He still takes time to answer my questions and I bought the engine over a year ago.

It's just been what I have learned from seeing on here, and reading about them, BUT ...

From what I have read/seen, its easier to get exactly what you want, when you want it, from VRE.

Re: Golen Motors

117MPH from a tuned 396?
DA and weight of car please.

I truely would expect a 3400ish pound car with a 396 to trap in the 120+ range, even with 4.10s....

After receiving the Golen short-block, I assembled the long-block using AFR 195 LT4 heads w/ LT4 intake, new Comp XFI cam (2200-6300 RPM range) w/ Beehive springs, new Crane roller lifters and 1.6 roller rockers, w/ Crane custom 3/8” pushrods, #30 SVO injectors, Mezier W/P, new Moroso LT/F-Body 6qt oil pan w/ HV pump and PCMforLess programming (Bryan is also great with the LT programming).

After breaking it in, the first time down the track I ran an 11.56 @ 117.41! Check-out my link for some pictures.

Now doubt VRE gets it done, but so does Golen. I had my motor from Golen 10days after ordering it.

Re: Golen Motors

I wanted him to do my shortblock, but he couldnt accomodate my schedule. The only way I was gonna drive an hour and a half one way was to do it on a Friday night. He didnt want to wait around on a Friday night for me (told him i'd be there around 6:30-7pm). He is not there on the weekends so Fridays are when I could dop the block off. I went with Erik @ HPE.

Re: Golen Motors

I dont know about their engines, but I'm not very happy with the company. I sold them a set of LT1 heads on ebay that they reported to paypal as not being delivered because they were a few days late. After they recieved the heads, they never refunded my money even though it would just take a phone call, and I am being forced to pay for a set of heads I gave away.

This was over a year ago. I've tried countless times to get ahold of accounting but I never get through and nobody returns my calls. I tried to get ahold of chad but he was on a vacation or something. Now that I'm deployed again, I doubt that I'll ever get the problem fixed.

Last time I just got ahold of a mechanic. He told me he would give the message to chad personally when he got back. I still never got a phone call.

This is why I build my own engines. Costs less, same quality if not higher, more satisfaction and less risk. If you know how to do it right.

Not saying they are a bad company, that's just my experience. I hate being the screwee.
