Going to be pulling heads, any tips, tricks, or ideas?

changed water pump and opti, still had miss, filled up rad to do flush, kept on filling, when topped off, bubbles from return line, then water would sink to a point and stop. noticed a little oil in the water pump when i pulled thermostat. think i had a lean condition when taching the motor high in third and popped the gasket, going to do compression and rad pressure test tonight.

The motor is a 94 LT1/4L60e w/ approx 70k and is in a 89 s-10 with room to move, are there any tricks i need to watch out for when pulling the intake and heads, or is it all straight forward. already got screwed on the water pump coupling, thanks gm.

Hopefully will be recieving service manuals this weekend.

I am wanting to keep everything stock and get some baselines before I get my hands in it too far, but was wondering if any of you recommend any changes to do now that would be a PIA later on. I was thinking of lightly decking the heads and thinner head gaskets to start off..

Thanks for the replies ,

Jeff

i broke my crapy ones.

get a fuel line disconnect tool, remove intake manifold and the valve covers and then heads...
