I've also searched a lot on this in the past few days. I have a few sound clips on my computer and even the Hotcam has a great sounding idle even though everyone talks about how mild a cam it is. From what I have found with searching, it seems the XEs have a broader curve and are more drivable than the cc306. This is just what I have gathered from searching...no first hand experience with any.

I know what a 383 with a 224 intake drives like. I would defnitly not go bigger than that on a 350, although i must admit I've never driven a car with a 230 in it. I went with the 218 myself and am quite happy with it so far but it's only been in a week. I'll be getting it dyno'd and track'd soon and then we'll see how the 'baby cam' holds up to all these 224 and 230 recommendations.

How much do you need to 'hear it' and how accessable do you want your HP?

Even the hotcam sounds lopy in my opinion.

The CC305 can be ground with a 112 lsa I believe, and it will sound lopier too.

I think I got that right. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Get the smaller cam and put 1.6 rockers on it to give it more lift , you'll be happier and you wont stink when standing still.

a buddy of mine has a 230/236 112 and it doesnt drive bad and its on a a4.

but yes your right about the loper sound, but there are alot of other things that it does, it cuases a narrower torqe curve. and at higher rpm. so you have to rev alittle higher. it cuases alittle more cam surge. but it does make alittle more power up top. but they say its harder to tune also. there are alot of pluses and minuses with a lower lsa.

I have the 224/230 comp cam and I like it, but I do not have any other reference than the stock cam.
I feel the car has woken up with this cam, and it sounds pretty tough even thru the exhaust...112 lsa is *******.

I have the 230/236 112 for my 383 but I wouldnt go with it for a 350. Especally not with stock heads. I would probibly use the hotcam.

XE 230/236 would be better for the street. Its not as bad as a cc306. I know someone with a cc306 in his 350 and he used to complain about the car stalling in reverse or in traffic sometimes.

i would go with the new combomotorsports 227/233. My friend loves his 224/230 and my 230/236 is nice but if you aren't doing heads i would want something smaller than it, but more than the 224. I would go with that.

You mean to tell me that you actually searched and did not find posts recommending the hotcam, CC305, or XE 230/236? If not, then you better improve your searching skills.

My opinion, go with the entire LT4 Hotcam Kit and you'll love it.

I have a 230/236-112 on a stock bottom end. With ported heads, and a good tune, the car drives pretty much like stock at low RPM. At higher RPM, it just keeps pulling harder all the way until the rev limiter. Talk about a broad torque curve. It makes over 300 ft-lbs at the rear wheels from 2000 - 6400 rpm.
